As promised, here's the sneak preview of our 2010 design collection, complete with some new products altogether. As always, unlike most companies, you don't have to choose something we've done. We start with a blank piece of paper every time. Anyway, enough chat, this is what you'll see at the wedding fayre's we're doing. Here's where you can see us:

Aston Hall 7 March

Tankersley Manor 21 March

Crow Hill 18 April

Elsecar Heritage Centre 2 May

(Harewood House 11 April to be confirmed)

As always, come see what we're doing, and if you can't make it, keep an eye on us at www.butterfliesandangels.co.uk

Roar!!!!!

Ok, so it's not one of the new wedding cakes, but we just rustled up a birthday cake this afternoon that we thought you might like to see.

Our mission was to create a birthday cake for a 3 year old, who loved the little "lce Age 3" dinosaurs.

How do you think we did?

Getting creative

Well, it's finally come around, the busiest week of the year so far. This is the big push, finalizing and putting the last few details on the new designs, ready for our first wedding fayre of the year, and it's a big one... Chatsworth House, Sunday 21 February. Gonna release a few sneak peeks very soon, maybe in the next day or two.

Stay tuned...

Winter update

It's been a busy winter so far. We haven't had a minute's rest, and we're busy designing new cakes to go into the wedding shows coming up. We'll be at Chatsworth House Wedding Fayre on February 21st, Aston Hall Wedding Fayre on March 7th, and Elsecar Heritage Centre Wedding Fayre on May 2nd. As the photography gets done we'll be publishing a few sneak peeks.

On top of that, we're updating the website, which should be much more streamlined, easier to negotiate, all that good stuff. Feel free to check it out, and hit the 'contact us' page if you have any feedback, that would be great.

Ok, back to work... it's 11:20 pm, I'm sure I can squeeze more work-time out of the day...

Ultimate Bride Wedding Show

What a weekend!!! We've had the busiest summer we've ever had but on top of our usual orders (and a newborn baby!) we've been busy designing a new range of cakes and chocolates for the season preview at the Ultimate Bride Wedding Show, which was held at the Magna on Sunday 6 September. The turnout was amazing with over 1500 brides to be through the doors. We've had several sleepless nights over this show, working till the small hours creating the new designs and with any new ideas you never know what kind of reaction you'll get. Well, we'll say all the hard work was well worth it. The comments we got about our cakes was outstanding - we're sooooo pleased! Thanks to everyone who came down to support us and eat chocolate cake, and a big welcome to all our new brides!

Finally!!

Well, after months of promising that we're gonna start a blog about our cakes and chocolates we've finally got round to it!! I'm a complete techophobe - give me chocolate and I can turn it into a masterpiece, give me a computer and I can turn it into a beeping, flashing, unco-operative pile of junk within about 5 seconds!! Anyway, we sussed it so welcome to our blog!!

So, the story so far....... I set up Butterflies & Angels (i'm Abbie by the way) nearly 10 years ago after getting tired of the rat race and proudly announcing to my long suffering parents that yes, although i'd got a mortgage and a baby I was giving up my management job to make cakes for a living. You can imagine how that went down. Anyway, several years and hundreds of cakes later we're now Yorkshire's leading Chocolatiers & Cake Designers. We create bespoke cakes for all occasions, from celebrity weddings to the next door neighbour's daughter's birthday. Regardless of the size of the cake or the grandeur of the occasion we put our heart and soul into our art (and it is an art!) and we love it (we being me and my other half Darren who adopted the motto "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" and has been tempering chocolate and handpainting cakes for a while now!). It consumes every single waking hour - we're either baking cakes, moulding chocolate or sketching designs and thinking of what weird and wonderful creations we can come up with next.

I'll not bore you with the entire history of our passion for all things cake and chocolate, just to say its been a long, hard slog, the kitchen walls have worn numerous cakes when things go wrong (which they sometimes do) and we've had some fabulous times ( and some not so good ones!) doing this job so we just wanted to share it!
